Founder and Spanish Tutor

email: maria@marlboroughsol.com

María is our founder and one of the Spanish tutors.

A native Spaniard from Lugo, in the beautiful Galicia, María speaks Spanish and Galego natively, English fluently and can converse in Italian and Portuguese.

María moved to the UK  25 year ago, she lived in London working in the voluntary sector, recruiting and training volunteers in different roles. She later moved to Marlborough where she had her two children.

Her teaching career began in 2008 at St Johns Academy (Adult evening courses) and she has also worked as a tutor at the Spanish Learning Club in Kintbury and organised Spanish Clubs in Kennet Valley Primary School (Lockeridge) and in Meadow Park School (Crickdale) amongst others.

From September 2019 she has been working at the Department of Modern Languages in Marlborough College as a Language Assistant, preparing students for their Spanish oral exams, as well at Marlborough College Summer School, where she runs Spanish courses.

The same year, María founded Marlborough School of Languages -now Marlborough Language Tutors’ Hub- working alongside other European teachers, organising workshops and tutoring private students that might need help with their school exams or that simply want to learn or improve a second language.

In her spare time, María enjoys yoga, travelling and is a dab hand at traditional paella.
